This project focused on designing and developing a modern digital presence for Newcastle Town FC, with special emphasis on the women’s football division. The goal was to create a professional, high-impact website that appeals to players, sponsors, fans, and the local community. Showcasing club values, promoting recruitment, and supporting long-term engagement. The fully responsive WordPress website was built using Elementor, featuring GDPR compliance, a bold blue branding scheme, and flexible content management to ensure long-term scalability.
Objectives:
- Improve user experience: Deliver an intuitive, well-structured layout to ensure smooth navigation and high usability across all devices.
- Strengthen branding: Incorporate a cohesive blue-themed design that captures the club's heritage and energy, aligning with sports industry aesthetics.
- Enhance functionality: Enable easy interaction through a user-friendly contact form, future-proof site architecture, and integration of legal and compliance components.
- Increase engagement: User effective Calls-to-Action (CTAs) to promote team sign-ups, partnerships, blog/news updates, and community involvement.
Challenges
Blending Tradition with Modern Design: One of the primary challenges was representing both the club’s strong sense of tradition and a modern visual identity within a single cohesive design. The website needed to feel rooted in the legacy of Newcastle Town FC while also appealing to a contemporary audience.
Ensuring Mobile Responsiveness: Another challenge involved adapting the content for mobile devices without sacrificing clarity, performance, or aesthetics. With a diverse audience accessing the site from various devices, ensuring responsive behavior across all screen sizes was essential.
Achieving GDPR Compliance Without Disruption: A third key challenge was integrating GDPR compliance elements, such as cookie consent and privacy policies, without disrupting the visual flow or overall usability of the site.
Solutions
Legacy-Inspired Design Blocks: To overcome these, the team developed design blocks that paid homage to the club’s history while incorporating clean, modern typography and layout choices that elevated the site’s look and feel.
Customized Responsive Elements: Elementor widgets were customized to enhance responsiveness, ensuring smooth content display and navigation across desktop, tablet, and mobile environments.
Seamless Legal Integration: For legal compliance, privacy plugins were implemented strategically to display cookie consent messages and policy links in a way that remained accessible but non-disruptive to users.

How we built it
Our team built the website in May 2025 and kept supporting the club with changes through the summer of 2025.
Pages
The site was planned around the three audiences in the brief: players interested in joining, potential sponsors and partners, and fans looking for news. The page structure was:
- Home and About Us
- Team page with the players and their sponsors
- Recruit Players, a landing page with a simple contact form
- Become a Sponsor, a landing page with its own application form
- Blog for club news, easy for the club to update
- Contact page and legal pages (privacy policy, terms)
Paid revision: fixtures and vacancies
After the first draft the club ordered a paid revision. We added a Fixtures page for upcoming games, results and the league table, ordered as fixtures, league and results, and a Vacancies page for club roles such as coach or physio. On the team page each player's sponsor now appears under the player, while the sponsor section on the Recruit Players page stays separate from the Become a Sponsor page.
Launch
The site was moved from our staging environment to the club's domain at the end of May 2025.
Support after launch
In June 2025 the club asked us to fix the delivery of enquiries from the contact forms, including the sponsor application, and to shorten the sponsor form by removing the company address and position fields. In August 2025 we extended the players page from 8 to 30 player slots so the club could add new player profiles itself.
