Edi auf Weltreisen – Shopify store for a children's book series

Edi auf Weltreisen – Shopify Store by Metanow

    The client & summary

Edi auf Weltreisen is a children's book series by a German author, built around Edi the Eagle: a flag colouring and discovery book that introduces children to countries around the world. The core objective was a simple, professional Shopify store in German and English to sell the books directly.

    The challenge

The store had to feel friendly and child-oriented while staying clear for parents: large images, minimal text, clearly visible buttons. The author also needed to manage the shop independently, adding titles and updating the homepage without help.

    Our solution

Our team built the store in about a month, from 9 March to 8 April 2026.

    Discovery and scope

The brief asked for a simple sales page on Shopify, available in German and English, with a contact form and GDPR compliance.

    Design

The first draft was ready on 18 March 2026. In the first revision the author asked for pastel backgrounds instead of plain white and for the book covers to appear clearly as decorative elements. The second round clarified the catalogue page, showed the cover titles on the homepage and added the imprint.

    Build and handover

The store runs on Shopify with a customised theme, product setup, legal pages and SEO meta titles. Our team replaced every instance of the default store name with "Adler Edi", connected the custom domain and recorded short video guides on editing sections and publishing products.

    Challenges we solved

Colourful but clear: pastel colours and large covers give the shop a playful feel without hiding the buy buttons.

Focused on the product and the character

The brief put Edi the Eagle and the book at the centre of every page. The site is a simple sales page on Shopify as the sales channel, with a homepage, cart, contact page and legal pages. The logo exists in a German and an English version, so each language shows the right one.

    Revision details

In the first revision the plain white background was replaced with a range of pastel colours, chosen by our team, and the children's photos and showcase images were reworked. In the second round the author clarified that the catalogue notes belonged on the catalogue page, while the cover titles also appear on the homepage. The embedded map at the bottom of the page was removed, as it was not needed for an online shop.
